Our Story
“Serving Those Who Selflessly Served Us, By Healing The Family They Left Behind.”
How It All Began
The Wonder Pup actually started as a bedtime story Ryan would say to his son, Jake. Jake loved the Wonder Pup story his dad would make up each night and it became a bedtime necessity.
Jackie grew up with a love for animals. She found comfort in her pets and believes her mother, Wendy, helped foster her love for animals. In May of 2025 Jackie lost her mom to complications of a rare blood disorder. The companionship of her dogs helped during her grieving process. She could not imagine how a child would feel losing a parent, and that is how she came about the idea of matching puppies with grieving families.
Ryan finds his passion in community service. He honorably served in the United States Marine Corps, then became a Conroe firefighter, and currently owns a growing jiu-jitsu gym. He understands the value in having a strong community during times of hardship.
After combining their love for dogs and community service, The Wonder Pup Foundation was founded. The foundation provides children and families of fallen first responders a quality K9 companion, access to professional counseling, and connection to a local jiu-jitsu gym that can provide a strong community.
The Wonder Pup Foundation was created to address a critical gap—supporting children who have lost a parent in the line of duty with trained companion dogs, counseling, and community. We exist to provide real, lasting support when these families need it most.
